  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup apple cider reduction (for frosting)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup unsalted brown butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for frosting)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp apple cider reduction (for frosting)
  • Apple slices (for garnish)
  • Cinnamon sticks (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by cooking diced apples with butter, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple cider reduction until soft. Set aside.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  3. In a bowl, combine melted brown butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt before combining with wet ingredients.
